Welcome to Winning at the Track (WATT).

From this location you can install any one or all of these programs:

o    The Tutorial
o    The WATTwin demo
o    The WATTdos demo

Here are the five steps involved:

1.  Open and print both of these help files ...  Install and HowTo.

2.  Following the Install instructions, create a new C:\ TRACK> folder.

3.  Install Tutor.zip or FreeWATT.zip (the WATTdos demo) into the TRACK folder.

4.  Install WATTdemo.zip (the WATTwin demo) into the same TRACK folder.

5.  Contact the Publisher to obtain the "Records.dat" file required to run WATTwin.

*   *   *

If one does not already exist, create a new TRACK folder at your C: root directory (C:\ >).

For the Winning at the Track programs to be installed properly, the compressed files below should be downloaded into the new TRACK folder.  Once the files below are opened (decompressed) in the TRACK directory, both the Tutorial and the WATTdos demo are ready.  The WATTwin demo will require one more step.  See #5 above.

If the FreeWATT.zip program is installed, there is no need to download the TUTOR.zip file since the tutorial is also included in the FreeWATT file.  The tutorial runs when the word TUTOR is typed at the C:\TRACK> prompt.  The WATTdos demo runs by typing WATT.

To download these compressed files, right click each file and go to "Save Target as..."  You can also download pkunzip.exe from this page if you need this program to open any .zip file (see "HowTo" instructions).

  TUTOR.zip (about 20k)

FreeWATT.zip (about 139k)

WATTdemo.zip (about 650k)

To open files:  pkunzip.exe

Once installed, the "path" to any WATT program will always be C:\TRACK > .

Open the files after they are downloaded.  Do not open any file until you are certain it is in the C:\TRACK folder.   You can use WinZip or the PKUNZIP.EXE program above to open these files.  For additional help, refer to this ...

HowTo

Please note that the WATTwin demo will not function properly until you obtain the free RECORDS.DAT file (current track adjustments).  For this, contact the publisher.

Send an e-mail to the Publisher (below).  This file will be sent to you immediately.  We apologize for the inconvenience, but this step will ensure the most satisfactory results.

After the WATTwin demo is installed and the icon is created, clicking the new horse icon will present a gray screen.  Click "File" in the top left corner and review the samples included.  Use the "Tab" key and the mouse to navigate this demo program.

Please Note:

We recommend that you review the Tutorial program first.  Follow the easy step-by-step Install instructions.  Next, download the tutorial file into the C:\Track> folder.  Once the file is opened in your new TRACK folder, you can run the tutorial by typing TUTOR at the C:\TRACK> prompt, or by doing this ...

In the lower left corner, click START, click RUN, then type:  C:\track\tutor.bat

Winning at the Track speed/pace handicapping software

If the entire package is purchased later, the primary installation steps will have already been completed with the installation of these demos.   Both the WATTwin program and the WATTdos programs are installed into a single folder called TRACK, and each will operate by using its own icon.  The DATABASE will also be installed in the TRACK folder.  A WATT Race File can only be created either by typing data manually from The Daily Racing Form or by downloading a DRF file ($1.00) from Bloodstock (the BRIS Single File format) and then entering it into the DATABASE.  Regardless, all activity occurs in the TRACK folder.

The DATABASE is not a data-entry program.  Instead, it transfers the necessary BRIS data into a new WATT Race File.  These are sophisticated programs, but they are highly reliable and easy to use.

New users are also encouraged to visit our home page at HorseRacingUSA.com where additional help can be found in the lower left corner.  And, finally, extensive help can be found within each program whenever questions arise about its operation.

Installing the new Winning at the Track software

General Instructions

If you are not a computer expert and would like to have some help with the installations, you can open and print the small Install and HowTo PDF files, located above.

Want to see a free demo of the popular WATTdos program?

Just install and run this program.   To run, type WATT at the C:\TRACK> prompt.

FreeWATT.zip (about 139k)

Icon Shortcuts used to run the Demos

Once a file is copied into the new TRACK folder and opened, the program is almost installed and ready to use.  We recommend that icon shortcuts be created on your Windows desktop to run the demos (see "HowTo").  If you purchase the entire program later, the most complex portion of the installation will have already been completed here.

Opening Files

Do you need the "PKUNZIP" shareware program to open files?   If so, do this ...

Download:  pkunzip.exe  (right click and "Save Target As..." into your TRACK folder)

To open any .zip file, type the word PKUNZIP before the file name (then hit Enter).

If you are asked permission to overwrite files when installing, answer "Yes" or "All".

Sample Race Files

A few sample WATT race files are included with the Windows demo to help new users become familiar with the program.  For example, review the 2-14-04.GP file.  You can also download Derby-99.CD (below), a race that is featured on the HorseRacingUSA website.  Note, too, that many other sample files can be downloaded from the website in addition to those inside the program.

Derby-99.CD

Contact the publisher if you would like to receive additional WATTwin or WATTdos file samples.

Additional Information

Inside each sample race file, the actual results are denoted in the following manner: The winner - $$,  The place horse - $, and a small "s" for show.

Note: Refer to the "HowTo" file above for more precise explanations.

For a better perspective, we recommend that you download, open, and reveiw the TUTOR and/or FreeWATT files first.

Ordering the WATT package

The WATT package can be ordered by phone and the program can be installed within minutes after the order is processed.   All major credit cards are accepted.  Just call our offices at (954) 426-9677.   We recommend that program updates ($55) be ordered every 12-18 months.  The Updates overcome the problem of periodic surface changes.

The DATABASE Transfer Program

This data transfer and storage program, included in the WATT package, is used to create Winning at the Track race files that can be read by either version, WATTwin or WATTdos.

About the program ...  The Database

Any registered WATT customers who have been entering data manually and do not own the DATABASE can purchase the program separately at any time for $149.95.
